I've seen a few mentions of this exhibition (here and on FB) - have you been? Did you enjoy it?

People I know have been and my husband has worked with quite a few of the collaborating Artists. We’ll be going as a family in April.

With no checked bags and assuming 10min to deplane from the time you're parked at the gate, your safety margin will be such that you have about 60min to allow for any plane delay PLUS passport control. (although if all goes really well, you could go from gate to domestic airside in 15min)

So you have an excellent chance of making it. You will probably have a good 30min to spare. Int'l to domestic transit at T1 is very easy. Even then, it it were me, I personally would not take this chance on separate tix. If your flight's delayed an hour, you would be screwed.

Considering that minimum connecting time for a same ticket connection is 1h 15m, this would be too close for my liking The afternoon arrivals often have a lot of crowds in immigration.

Some more recent experience for anyone else considering this connection:

I flew ICN-FUK-GUM with first leg on OZ and the second on UA (all on one ticket). An agent met me at the plane and escorted me to a small transfer lounge. OZ had already checked me in for the UA flight but she checked me in again after checking my onward ticket from Guam (tip: there is no WiFi so have a printed confirmation). She also gave me the lounge pass. There was a very quick security check. Only one other person was connecting (to TG) so it was pretty fast: the whole thing - from plane to lounge - took about 30 minutes.

Flying JL5 Arriving in HND at 17:10, then connecting to JL29 the next day at 10:05 (both international)
Question: Will Japan airlines check by baggage through so I don't have to enter Japan / leave the international terminal? Same ticket

Yes they will.

If you are planning to use the lounges, please note that they close overnight. Though with JL41 running now, they only close at 02:15 or so.

I appreciate the quick response thank you

You've got this option airside (after transit security), as well.

Thanks

I am also wondering, if I am flying ANA to U.S. but I have an overnight connection in HND (same ticket), can I transfer immediately to the international terminal and spend the night there? Or do I need to wait outside and check in normally the following day? And will ANA check my luggage through?

NH68 CTS-HND 1530-1705
NH112 HND-ORD 1050-0840

You should be able to spend the night at HND. HND Int'l terminal is open 24hrs.
However, because your domestic to int'l transit is not a same-day connection (even if on single ticket, <24hrs), I doubt that ANA will through-check your bags. You could call them and confirm this.
And because you have bags to check, you won't be able to go airside until ANA's check-in counter opens the morning of your flight is what I'm gueesing.

But why would you want to go airside the night before your 10.50am flight, if you're already in Jpn? There's plenty of budget options to spend the night.

I see, thanks. Well, I would prefer to spend the night inside the terminal (hotel) than wake up at 5 or 6 to make the flight, plus moving the luggage around, taxi, etc. I'll call to check about this.

You don’t have to wake up at 5/6. Royal Park has landslide hotel at the International terminal. Or you can stay at Tokyo Excel hotel which is landside at T2, the terminal you’ll be arriving at. If you stay at either of these hotels, you could sleep in until 8 or even later.

Landslide? Oh I hope not! ;)
