Haneda , intl to domestic with a 2:15 connection, UA to ANA on the same ticket
Do I have to bring my baggage from the intl terminal to the domestic and checkin or is there a place to recheck the baggage after clearing customs

Once you clear customs, there is a domestic check in counter, then a security check and an airside transfer bus. This only applies if you have a flight departing from Terminal 2. Main NH terminal, if you have one of the codeshare flights, or other few options departing from Terminal 1 you will have to carry your luggage over yourself.

Ticket 1:
OKA-NGO JL

Ticket 2:
NGO-NRT-DOH-AMS QR first flight operated by JL

Would it be crazy to attempt OKA-NGO-NRT with a 60 minute connection on separate tickets?

Would JL be able to give me a boarding pass for my NGO-NRT flight when checking in at OKA?

The first question would be are you expecting to check luggage? (I would assume not)

Normally the check in for domestic flights in Japan only require you to pass security 15 minutes before departure, but domestic flights connecting to international flights are at separate counters and close check in 30 minutes before departure. You would need to go to the counter for domestic flights with international connections at OKA if you want any chance of getting a boarding pass for the NGO-NRT leg.

I don't know if JAL can actually give you your boarding pass.

With the number of flights usually heading out from OKA, I would look for one with more than 60 minutes for this setup.

OKA-NGO is operated by Jetstar Japan -- I wouldn't trust them to be on time.

The airport(s) at which you are transiting: NRT
The airline on which you are arriving: ANA
The airline on which you are departing: United
Your connection time in hours/minutes: 2:45
How you are connecting: Int-Int (KUL-NRT-IAD-TPA)
Single Ticket

I think 2:45 should be fine.... right?

More than enough time to connect. Follow signs for connections. You'll pass through a security check (no liquids over 100ml allowed). You do not need to go through immigration or customs.
You will need to visit the lounge / do some shopping to kill some time.

I missed that one... More likely to not be possible to get a boarding pass OKA.

Great! Thank you! I'm booking now and will probably shorten the connection to 2:15, which I'm guessing should still be good (minus any IRROPS).

Thank you!

Are you sure? JetStar Japan does operate OKA-NGO once a day, but do not think this route code share with JAL.

JTA (Japan TransOcean Air) flies OKA-NGO four times daily and I think it is JTA flight the poster is booked under JAL flight number.

The poster is flying NGO-NRT to catch QR flight at NRT. JAL’s NGO-NRT flights depart NGO at 8:15 and 14:50. JetStar Japan has only one OKA-NGO per day arriving NGO at 17:15. I really do not think the poster is flying JetStar Japan on OKA-NGO, but flying JTA on OKA-NGO.

If poster if flying JTA on OKA-NGO then as part of JAL group the poster should able to check-in all the way even if it is in two separate tickets.

My guess is that poster’s itinerary is:

Ticket 1:
NU 42
OKA 11:50
NGO 13:50

Ticket 2:
JL 3084
NGO 14:50
NRT 16:00

QR 807
NRT 22:20
DOH 04:30

QR 273
DOH 07:10
AMS 12:20

Correct ^

As the flights JTA flights are bookable on th JL site I just presumed they were part of JL.

I'm not sure on reflection if I'm comfortable with that connection so will position OKA-NGO the night before.

Japan Transocean Airline is a fully owned JAL subsidiary. So yes, they are in effect just like flying JAL. A bit like American Eagle or Lufthansa Cityline.

Nagoya has lots of good food options, as so many other places in Japan, but it will give you the chance to try some other specialities than in Okinawa.

I think that is good decision, you get to spend time at Nagoya, it is cool city.

Under your situation OKA-NGO is on a separate ticket so checked baggage allowance of OKA-NGO will be domestic baggage allowance which is total of 23 kg regardless of number of baggage. However, if you purchase JAL Japan Explorer Pass available to non-Japanese residents which is available for 10,800 yen for segment then baggage allowance will be two pieces with 23 kg each, just like international flights. I think OneWorld Yokoso/Visit Japan Fare will works similar way.
