Calling Japan Customs?

Has anyone ever tried calling Japan Customs at any of the numbers below to ask a specific customs question in English? Not sure the FAQs cover my question.

And were they willing to answer questions (and in English)? I'm just thinking by analogy to the frustrating experience one often has when calling some countries' embassies/consulates with visa/passport questions not otherwise answered by public materials.

I no longer remember the conversation, but I think I would have spoken to them in Japanese. Unless they specifically advertise an English language line, I think the best you can do is call and see. Every now and then you'll come across a person with great English - even in the most unlikely places. My biggest surprise was a homeless guy who approached me at a bookstore near Ueno station. Didn't want money - Just wanted to chat a bit in English: True eki-mae eikaiwa.

If no one can on the phone, there's definitely an English-capable person looking at the e-mails, if my experience two years ago still holds.
