Sep 23-25 baseball?

I will be in Tokyo at the end of September. I would love to see a Giants game. I found their 2014 schedule here. http://www.giants.jp/2014schedule/

Will the Giants be playing on September 23-25? Or are those "if needed" games? I see the Swallows will be playing on those dates. Are the Swallows any good? Will there be fans at the stadium on the last day of the Swallows season, or will the stadium be dead? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

On 23-25 September Giants will be playing in Nagoya versus Chunnichi Dragons.

Don't know enough about Japan Pro Baseball to tell you how good Swallows are.

As a Swallows fan, I have to say that they are extremely good... (So they were last in the league last year, so what...)

But seriously, if you have the option of seeing a Swallows game at Jingu Gaien Stadium, I highly recommend it. I much prefer the outside, small-town-ballpark atmosphere of Jingu Gaien to the air-conditioned blandness of Tokyo Dome.

The Hanshin Tigers, which have the most rabid fans in Japan, will be in Yokohama (not far from Tokyo) on those days. It's best to see Hanshin at their home stadium, which is revered by all Japanese baseball players. Still, you could have a good experience in Yokohama.

Hanshin Tigers is my team! Yes, if you want to experience Japanese pro baseball game live in a stadium then you cannot beat Tigers home game. I think many in Japan agree that when it comes to fan dedication and enthusiasm Tigers fans are the best.

The thing I do not like about Yomiuri Giants is owners, for whatever reasons owners of Yomiuri Giants always had some power behind the scene in Japanese pro baseball league. From fans perspective Yomiuri Giants always got players they wanted and many wondered what is going on behind the scene. Some press did say the owner of Yomiuri Giants always push his way and get what he wants on league meetings. Some press went on to say that the owner of Yomiuri Giants has more power than a commissioner of Japanese pro baseball league, which is kind of well known story among Japanese baseball fans.

I think you will enjoy Swallows game. Looks like Balentien will be playing this coming season so the team will be fine.

I second going to see the Swallows.

You have to love a stadium with history like this:

The second oldest professional ballpark still in use, Jingu's brick walls date back to 1926. Before the Second World War, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig played in Jingu during an exhibition tour of Japan. Though renovated in 1982, no other stadium in Eastern Japan retains as much history and old-ballpark style.
