Arrived slightly after 4pm yesterday at Gate 31, and made it from plane to curb in just under 6 minutes. Bit of crowd on the escalators and at immigration.
NRT really does a good job on getting people through quickly, and friendly staff at both immigration and customs.

More realistic times: Gate to Arrivals concourse
Gate to Passport - Passport wait + processing - Downstairs to carrousel + bags + customs
Last 3 times in NRT (T1, either ANA or Air Canada, mid-late afternoon, economy, checked bags, walk down moving walkways):
1). 9m32s - 16m18s - 5m51s = 31m41s
2). 6m - 7m - 11m = 24m
3). 9m13s - 8m34s - 10m56s = 28m43s
Average: 28min.
If you want to reference the above to figure out how much time to allow from arrival till you're landside, add on:
- 3~10min to deplane, if Y (depends on your seat & aircraft)
- 5min additional, if you want to stand (not walk) on moving walkway

Flightaware says gate 21. No one at immigration, only 3-4 people at bag claim (assume everyone else on flight went on to US), no line at customs.

That's really fast. That really has to be just about the best case scenario. In my experience , bags don't start coming out until ~20min after arrival, give/take few.

Plus there arrivals hall was completely empty - I recall one other flight on the baggage claim board but no one at that carousel so it must have already finished.
