Shipping package from US to Tokyo
Hello all,
I wanted to ship a 10-pound (~4.5 kg) package (care package) from LA to Tokyo. Besides the standard USPS/UPS/FedEx options, are there any other reliable shipping options that perhaps would also be cheaper?
Thanks.

Check into Yamato Transport USA, the US division of the ubiquitous "black cat" delivery service in Japan. Depending on the dimensions, it looks like a 5kg box would cost $55 for delivery in about one week. I've used them several times for US->Japan shipments and have no complaints.

I've mailed packages through USPS before - it's been in the 70$ range and takes 2-3 weeks, but it's also tracked automatically and I have the comfort of knowing that it's being sent with an established freight group. I've had no problems. You may not find an alternative that is much cheaper or a better value overall, but please post if you do.
