kIX

Hello All,

I am reaching KIX this month to spend time in kansai and planning to stay in Kyoto as well as Tokyo for few days.

Can you please suggest me which is a best way (economically, timewise) to reach Tokyo from kyoto?

1] kyoto-kix-then flight to Tokyo

or

2] Kyoto to Tokyo by train.

Please suggest me.

Thanks

Cheapest is the night bus.

Leave about midnight and arrive in Tokyo about 7 am.

Costs about 5000 yen.
It is pretty comfortable, especially if you get an delux bus.

I'd take the train. The shinkansen is not cheap but will get you from Kyoto to Tokyo in under 3 hours.

If you have decided to fly to Tokyo, fly from Itami Airport to Haneda, Tokyo. Itami is closer to Kyoto than Kansai is, and it is cheaper to get to.

And Haneda is just a short monorail ride from central Tokyo.

if you fly to haneda there is only a 20min ride with the train to get to the city.
but much more "fun" should be the shinkansen. riding the train in japan (especially the shinkansen) is very interesting. ^

For KIX-Kyoto, as a foreigner, you can get a 1 day JR Kansai Pass at JPY 2000, cutting 1000 yen off the bill
