Incredible experience

Hello everybody,

we have just arrived from our trip to Tokyo. Thanks to your help we have had an incredible experience.

Things were easier than expected and we managed quite well despite the language barrier: we bought the N'ex+suica card which was a bargain and a useful tool to navigate the metro. On the trip back to the airport we took the slow local train which was also a cheap option from Tokyo station.

We were delighted to find so many budget places to eat: we tried tempura in a restaurant behind Nakamise dori and sushi in Tsujiki area, but we also enjoyed japanese chain restaurants and sushi from Matsuya depato.

The trip to Kamakura was a very good idea but definetely a day is not enough to get to see some of the more important shrines and temples. It was New Years 's day and we could only see Hachimangu temple from the distance because of the crowd.

Everything was opened in Tokyo during the New Year holidays which surprised us a bit. Temples were crowded and we could see many girls on kimonos, something that we did not expected either.

We are just thinking about going back to Japan as soon as we find a cheap flight to visit other areas of the country.

Thanks again to everybody for your help.

Maybe you should get flights into KIX next time, which puts you closer to Japan's "cultural triangle" (Kyoto, Kobe, Nara). I also recommend spending time in rural Japan.
