787 Premium Economy

I have a booked in Premium Economy SIN to HND. I am trying to decide between bulkhead and a row behind. Per JAL website all seats have a reclining seat leg rest with some type of foot rest (maybe attached to the seat in front). My concern is the lack of that same configuration with the foot rest on the bulkhead. Any comments or experience appreciated.

The footrest is indeed on the seat in front, so for bulkhead rows you only have the legrest.

The most comfortable configuration may depend on the length of your legs.

Personally, as someone who is 165cm with slightly longer legs than torso, I don’t find the first row in PE particularly comfortable, not after the first few hours anyway. The foot rest makes all the difference to me.

I have seen taller people comment that it is the opposite for them, that the foot rest position doesn’t suit them and the extra room at the bulkhead is better.

On the 777-300ER, the window side bulkhead seats have space enough to use your carry-on as footrest.

And one can forego PE entirely and use a leg rest as a leg rest 💡
