JAL's Salon is open from 7am to 11am, and again from 7pm until the lounge closes.
Status on caviar, no experience for me. Basically make sure to be there between 7am and 11am, or among the lucky first when the Salon opens again at 7pm. Limited quantities per day.

Hi,
Aww. Looks like I will probably be too late to check out the Salon on my next visit to HND ( Dec 2023)
My BA flight leaves at 1315 ( so looks like check in will open at 1015)
Will need to wait until Jan 2024 ( JL flight to LHR leaving at 0100 so might have a few hours to kill depending on a late hotel check out)
Regards

I managed to enjoy this. The vodka is very nice. The caviar serving is tiny. Very very small. You’re not missing much if you don’t get it.

The vodka is very nice, the bartender made a special vodka service for me as he felt bad there was no caviar left for me. At least some benefits of being a good customer of JAL....

A few snacks, a grappa glass and a wider glass to experience the aroma in two ways. Plus he was really only really supposed to serve the vodka with the caviar. But I'd imagine that more people would go with champagne, or no alcohol, rather than a vodka shot so they'll probably run out of caviar before they run out of vodka.

I was there prior to JL31 to BKK last week (11:15am departure).
Downstairs was quite busy.
There was just one other person upstairs in the salon.
I didn't have any vodka. It was a nice touch but the portion is small. What is really nice about the upstairs is there is literally no one up there.
The sushi bar downstairs was more enjoyable food wise for me.
