BKK->NRT on JAL, NRT->ORD on ANA. Is this possible in terms of bags?
Hi everyone,
I want to fly from BKK to ORD this February, and I want to see if there's anyway JAL would interline my bags to ANA. My ideal plan is below.
BKK -> NRT on JAL (booked via BA avios)
NRT -> ORD on ANA (booked via ANA miles)
The connection I'm looking at is 3 hours. Due to visa requirement, I wouldn't be able to just exit immigration to pick up my bag and recheck.
Would JAL consider sending my bags to ANA, so that I can transfer as a connecting passenger?
Thank you all for your help!

Theoretically they can do, and I have read pre covid reports that people got luggage checked through from ANA to JAL. However, it is not a stated benefit, and thus not possible to say whether it will happen or not.
I would not do it. These days I would not rely on a cross alliance separate ticket connection. Especially not if I needed to have checked luggage, that I would have no option to collect at the connection point should a transfer fail.
