Whole family got upgraded from Y to J

Myself, the wife, and my 4 year old daughter were returning from a trip to SGN. Our route was SGN-NRT-JFK-LGA-YYZ on JAL (code shared with AA). We arrived at SGN airport 15 minutes prior to the check in counters opened. The economy line was super long and no one was at the business line. Thanks to my Platinum status, I was able to bypass the long lineup and be first in line at the business check in line. At 06:00, all the check in attendants did something wonderful: They all stood in front of their counters and bowed to everyone waiting in line. So I check in all three of us. When the boarding passes were printed, I asked why we did not have 3 seats all together. She said that it was not possible because we were all placed in business class and the seat configuration was 2-2-2. Doing my best to hold back my excitement, I smiled and gratefully accepted! We relaxed at the Bamboo CIP lounge, which was just recently opened as I was told, and our plane was literally beside it, so it gave us a great view of our plane. The food was fantastic. We enjoyed eating Vietnamese dishes as well as other snacks, tee, chips, etc. When we boarded, the flight attendants were so kind to give my daughter a toy Boeing 777 and took family photos for us sitting in our J seats. Keep in mind that this was the first time in my life and my family’s life sitting in J so we were clearly overjoyed! I always dread how long international flights take, but this was the complete opposite! Moving on to our NRT-JFK flight, unfortunatey we were stuck in Y (which was expected) and my daughter started to develop a fever. The flight attendants, once again with their superior customer service helped anyway they could and even told my wife that they will check up on my daughter every hour. ^ When we deplaned, we stayed back to give all the flight attendants a thank-you for their incredible customer service. We have NEVER experienced such excellent care ever, and I think other airlines that lack customer service can definitely learn a thing or two about how JL treats their passengers.

Overall, an incredible experience coming back home. I didn’t even achieve EXP yet (although I will in September) and we were all treated so well.

Quite a few of us have seen operational upgrades. I've had a few on Qantas on both paid and award tickets.

Operational Upgrades (op up) - all about and "I got one" (consolidated)

As this is about JAL we've relocated it to the most appropriate forum.
