Booking certain booking classes on Jal.com

First of all let me say that I absolutely love Japan Airlines and often use them even if they are quite a bit more in Economy versus other Airlines. Just can't beat their Economy Class product on on their 787, 767 and even the 777.

I am working on a trip later this year to SE Asia in Y and my question is, is it possible to book a certain fare class which allows seat selection in advance (it seems Q and up and even N now) on JAL.com?
I think I know the answer but wanted to ask anyway. I like to reserve seats in advance because at online check-in (24 hours before departure) my experience in and out of YVR has been that there is not much left to choose from and I rather pay the extra but the website doesn't seem to allow to choose a booking class where this is possible like other airlines do.
It seems that you just have to look around and try different options or work with a travel agent who can enter specific booking classes.

Maybe there is an insider trip I don't know about yet.

When booking, the website shows several fare types, promo, saver, semi flex, or whatever trey are called, clicking on those will show you the various booking classes in each of them, and which one the displayed price represents. That should allow you to avoid Q and N.

Thank you CPH-Flyer. On the Canadian website it only gives the option of Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First.
Later there is also an option to include restricted fare but it really doesn't help in this case.

Maybe in other countries more options are provided.

That's interesting the Japan website is far more flexible then. I guess we need some benefits for the high fare we pay....

You would need to call JAL, or contact a TA

Maybe the website is supposed to reflect the Interior of the aircraft they send to Vancouver.

In Business Class there are only the angled lie flat seats and in Economy still no Sky Wider seats but the ones they have in these 787 are still great and much better than any other airline's economy on the 787, so no complaint there.

no, that’s because OP was using multicities search. Americas Region website has those fare options when you do a simple r/t or o/w search
