Naples, IT?
Would love opinions on where to stay for two nights in May at one end of a Ravello/Capri visit. I am stumped by Naples, as the choices seem to be either
tired or poorly located. We would take a suite wherever we stop there so we can work from the room. Any thoughts?

Yes! I avoided Napoli for many years after several bad experiences just transiting at the station or between the station and the airport. And the trains between Napoli and Sorrento are enough to turn anyone off for life!
But just before covid I stayed there for a few days and loved the old parts of Napoli - totally different to the area around the station. So I would recommend spending your time in Centro Storico - just pick some small authentic restaurants for some amazing meals, walk the old streets and soak up the atmosphere.
I know that didn't answer your question but it might open some options.

Napoli is a city that’s changing very quickly and even piazza Garibaldi (the bit outside the station) is improving. I think it’s better to rent an apartment than a suite in a hotel; the city doesn’t have, in my opinion, that crop of big international hotels that American/overseas visitors are mostly familiar with.
If were to stay there for a week or so for working I’d stay at the Vomero or Posillipo: high up, scenographic, lots of sun.

Dont stay in Naples after Ravello/Capri. I spent a few nights at the Romeo last summer after a week at Palazzo Avino and Il San Pietro, its a surefire way to be disappointed. If possible switch the order or, if budget allows, just stay in Ravello/Capri.

I can absolutely switch the order, so that is good advice. I do need two nights there and am trying to find the best of maybe a bad lot of options. TY.

Star Alliance and SkyTeam had poor connections out of Naples towards North America last season, so several of my clients overnight'ed in Frankfurt, Zurich or Munich to avoid having to leave Amalfi very early the in the AM or an overnight in Naples. A few that did, stayed at either Romeo or Parkers.

This is good advice. We spent two nights in Napoli after Sorrento and Positano, and it was not the best way to end the trip. Our hotel (Santa Lucia) was okay, but we did not enjoy the city. The rudeness was a real shock after Sorrento and Positano (where most everyone is very nice). We also tried three pizzerias and we felt all three were inferior to what we regularly get in SF (Tony's) or even Scottsdale (Pomo)
