Does the train around Etna operate in Winter ?

I am planning to visit Sicily in late February.

Does anyone know if the little train that circles Etna - (Circumnetea) operates in Winter ?

I know it operates Monday to Saturday (no service Sunday) but I can't seem to work out from their Italian website (I don't speak Italian - so that is not surprising) whether it operates all year around or not ?

Does anyone know ? Does anyone have a schedule in English ?

Having nothing else to do for the time beeing, I thought of checking out for you and letting you know. Well, the reason you can't work out from their site is not because you don't speak Italian but because this is by far the worst tourism/transportation site I've ever visited. Or, to be precise, it reminds me of the very first "Mosaic" pages that contained colour images in the mid-nineties! The only piece of information that is really available is the distance between stations (in km). Sorry for this, perhaps some Sicilian friend will have some real info available for you (perhaps after phoning them).

Interesting. I did try the site myself, put the dates I needed in but I got gibberish back. I thought it was me !

Thanks for trying though !

Hmm. I found this page http://www.circumetnea.it/linee_orar...GEN%202018.pdf that has the schedule for January 2018 without much trouble. Note that the train does not run on Sunday and holidays.

So if it is running in January, it is most likely running all winter.

The main page is here Ferrovia Circumetnea | Linee e Orari

And while the page says January 2017 the link seems to indicate 2018.

It should be unless a strike is planned but none are showing pending online for now.

Just a friendly reminder ;-) it does not completely circle Etna 360 degrees.
