Quick advice needed for flight itinerary
I booked my trip to Italy with me arriving in Rome, and departing out of Pisa. I'm planning on staying in Camogli for that part of the trip.
I just heard about ridiculously low fares from JFK to MXP Round Trip that are about $400 cheaper per ticket.
The price savings is meaningful, but we want to check out Rome. How much of a pain would it be to go direct to Rome from MXP to start the trip?
I'd imagine it will add in at least 5-6 Hours (between travel time and time needed after landing).
In that case, we'd get into Rome at around 7PM that night. With the train ticket and length of day, the thought of the $ savings gap seems to get narrower.
What do you guys think? Is it an easier process to get from MXP to Rome than I'm making it sound like?

MXP to Rome involves a train from MXP to Milano Centrale, and then another train from Milano Centrale to Roma (likely Roma Termini). Your 5-6 hour estimate is probably pretty good. I'd personally eat the cost and fly into Rome if you want to start there. If you fly into MXP, your first day is completely gone, you won't have energy to do anything at 7pm CEST when it feels like 1am EST.
