Hotel is Venice

Hi everyone,

4 of us are traveling to Europe in May and we're trying to find a hotel in Venice. Any suggestions for an affordable hotel which will accommodate 4 people? I'm thinking in the $150-$200 range. I've looked at a lot of them but can't really narrow it down. We will be getting there on May 19th and might end up staying 2 nights. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

look in venere.com. make certain you request a room for 4 people. you're looking in the 100-150euro range. you might have to stay in meister, or maybe can find a place on lido. also look on murano, which has some realitively cheap places, and is much better than airport or meister.

In arriving in Venice by train in October 2012, I chose the Hotel St. Lucia, within easy walking distance of the train station. It's a one-star, but was good in every way given that hotel class. A 15-minute walk from St. Mark's Square, but easy access to a vaporetto stop at the station, and also a great nearby opportunity for a gondola ride through some of the back canals. It's a small place that can book up quickly. Look for their website if interested.

I'm thinking that someone that wants to spend only $150-200 for a room will likely not want a gondola ride? Or maybe they're saving their money for that?

one can get off the shuttle and catch the bus to venice proper(.small fee)
it has that feeling of never left home(if home is mid-usa)

i thought it near the airport, vce, and not next to the train sta.

The sophisticated Crowne Plaza Venice East-Quarto d'Altino hotel is your peaceful retreat, a 10 minute shuttle from Venice Marco Polo Airport.

it is near a train station on the mainland- but not the station in Venice (S. Lucia) proper.

We probably only spent $130 per night for a room and most definitely went on a gondola ride. Sometimes, the mindset on Flyertalk appears to be a bit too much into luxury, when there are other ways to enjoy travel. Fortunately, your comment suggested you understood what we were doing.
