Tuscan B&B
Hey Everyone,
My wife, myself (plus a 5 month old) will be going to Italy next May. She has been dying to stay at a bed and breakfast in the Tuscan region. She wants something with a great view, beautiful looking, with wine tasting, and just a relaxing atmosphere. We will have a rental car and staying in Milan the night before. I know it's a little far out still but I have seen that you can get better rates if you book in advance. I hope that I can get some suggestions from the flyertalk community.
Thanks!

i think this is a good place to start:
http://www.chianti.com/radda-in-chianti/
radda has a sort of chamber of commerce that has a number of possible residences listed. i don't know if it is in this or not. you can ask on their forum. i would not recommend the place we stayed. it fit all your requirements perfectly, but i think the owner untrustworthy. i did not handle the dishonesty well, since we had so seldomly come across it in italy. we also stayed in a wonderful b&b in montalcino.

We researched the tripadvisor website for a B & B in Tuscany and decided to stay at the Hotel Vecchio Asilo. Located about 5km from San Gimignano and centrally located for day trips to Florance, Sienna, or the wine country. Guido was an excellent host and the cost was around 85 euros several years ago.
Try to book a dinner at on of the agricultural farms for a wonderful dinner and memorable evening.

Le Traverse (Pienza) is wonderful. Rooms are pleasant, views are great, breakfast is excellent (the owner, Pinnuccia, makes her own cakes, breads and jams and raises her own chickens for eggs). Pinnuccia is extremely, extremely welcoming and comes down every morning to help you plan your day. They also have a very nice pool, and the property itself is a working farm (mostly olives, some grapes for wine too as well as fruit orchards).
Pricing is reasonable -- I think about EUR200 a night including breakfast. If you go, request the room in the house if it's available. The other rooms are nice too, but it is really special being in the house.

Villa Poggiale is in San Casciano Val di Pesa which is one exit south of Firenze on the road to Siena. ( http://www.villailpoggiale.it)
It is very nice villa and San Casciano is a nice/functional town that balances the country & city Tuscany. if you want more flash, try San Gimignano (and heck, go there and stay a night for the views, they're killer). My wife and I stayed at il Poggiale. It was very nice and comfortable and a good base to explore Firenze (before the ZTL though - be careful with cars in cities now).
