Volare

Good luck to everyone earning miles on the new program, which is revenue-based. 1 mile = 1€. Enjoy earning those 400 miles on FCO-JFK

Are there any decent distance-based FF programs in Skyteam that we can switch to? Delta Skymiles?

Are you basing that on this phrase on their website
"Vola con noi ed inizia subito ad accumulare punti per ogni euro speso."
...or do you have another source?

I see they have four tiers:
Smart, Plus, Premium ed Executive
Wonder how they correspond to the silver/gold/platinum split.

Presumably they'll have a huge number of status customers in 2022 following the initial status match....after which they'll lose lots of them if they set the boundaries too ambitously high.

The Regulations link says 1 point = 1 Euro. Plus = Silver, Premium = Gold, Executive = Platinum. How boring and basic. And yes, if the program is as bad as it sounds they will lose a lot of customers. I will do the status match because mine expires in March, but I'll probably be crediting all future flights to a different program.

Interestingly - no status match for Etihad Guest status holders (but for EK and QR).
and none for either VS or VA.

In english the ITA website states 1€ = 10miles. Which version is wrong ? At this stage it doesn’t matter as we have no clue what the thresholds will be …

Whether it’s 1 mile or 10 mile, I can already tell it’s going to be a worthless program. If it’s 10 miles, it means earning has been devalued by at minimum 50% compared to MilleMiglia on long haul economy, 60% medium haul business, and by 30% long haul business. And we still don’t know what the redemption values will be. I’ll guess 200,000 miles for business long haul

Maybe because of Etihad’s role in bankrupting the company.

Executive or Platinum?

I did a status match and was matched to “Executive” level, which isn’t one of their published levels, which are bronze, silver, gold, and diamond (https://www.itaspa.com/en_it/volare/...gulations.html).

So, I’m not sure what this means. Is “executive” a non-published tier? In their email reply, they said I was part of the “new ITA Exclusive Club.” Is this the same as Volare?

Ah, okay. So, it's just a language issue:

Smart = Bronze
Plus = Silver
Premium = Gold
Executive = Diamond

It seems that Executive/Diamond status grants complimentary upgrades to first class (I assume they meant business class?). To me, this seems interesting and (hopefully) lucrative.

If upgrades are treated the same as Delta, AA and United and ITA joins one of the alliances, then it could be the beginning of an interesting program.

I think the Premium level is the Silver level in the alliances, not the Gold. ITA calls it GOLD (or Premium, in Italy) but it'n not real.
  • Bronze Level:
    • o access with the registration to the Program and accumulation of Points for each ITA expense;
    • o access to an extensive network of commercial partnerships for the crediting and use of points, as periodically communicated according to the paragraph 5.g;
    • o purchase of additional services using Points.
  • Silver Level:
    • benefits of the Bronze Level;
    • priority waiting list;
    • free additional services;
    • dedicated customer service;
    • check-in in Business Class.
  • Gold Level:
    • benefits of the Silver Level;
    • access to Lounge;
    • dedicated customer service 24/7;
    • priority boarding;
    • special welcome on board;
    • two vouchers/year for theclass upgrade.
  • Diamond Level:
    • benefits of the Gold Level;
    • golf equipment included;
    • access to Lounge + guests;
    • dedicated assistance 24/7;
    • free food and drinks;
    • invitations to exclusive events;
    • complimentary upgrade to the first class;
    • special welcome on board.

This chart is irrelevant if they join SkyTeam. There are only 2 status tiers in Skyteam. Skyteam Elite (Silver) = *A/OW Gold. Gold, Platinum Diamond whatever, is all Elite Plus.

I’m Elite with MilleMiglia so let’s see what tier they give me

Seems that the Volare registration page is having issues. Was trying to get my partner status matched, but currently received the following error on the registration website for the program.
" [Your organization has most likely exceeded a limit. Registration from Volare is not able to create portal users.] "

Too many trying to status match?

Cheers!

btw - mine was approved and was matched to Executive too. I would not mind taking a quick flight to get the 10k miles - only question is, will it be worth the time and money? I expect that if they make the program revenue base, the 10k should be worth something.
