Frequently Asked Questions
Please read these before asking your question in the thread.
  1. Q. If I book a stay using IHG points, does that count as a "stay" towards my Into The Nights offers?
    A. No.

  2. Q. If I book a stay using a cash and points rate, does that count as a "stay" towards my Into The Nights offers?
    A. No.

  3. Q. Will stays booked via a consolidator (like TravelPony) or other public travel portal or points portal count towards this promo?
    A. No. Your stays must be booked directly with IHG on their website or on their app. However, if you are booking through your corporate portal at work, this may post if such stays usually earn you base points.

  4. Q. How long will it take for my points to post?
    A. Normally they post within a week or two.

  5. Q. How long after stay points post to my IHG account is it until my personal Into the Nights dashboard is updated showing progress in my offers?
    A. The Tuesday after the stay points post to account. (edit: has been Thursday lately, November)

  6. Q. Where can I find the Bonus Point package with Breakfast rate?
    A. Click here to book Bonus Points Package with (or without) Breakfast rate.

NOTE: Make sure that your email confirmation states something like this:

Rate Description: Exclusive to IHG Rewards Club members. Earn Faster with this package offer plus breakfast - Earn 5,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club points per stay when you book the 5,000 Bonus Point Package plus breakfast each day (breakfast for up to 2 adults sharing a room). Membership in IHG® Rewards Club is free! Points can be redeemed at any time for a variety of rewards, including free hotel stays starting at just 10,000 points, airline miles, name-brand merchandise and more. Book now to take advantage of this special offer!

Otherwise you booked the wrong rate type. This type of rate also comes in a 1000 point version.

  7. Q. I registered for this promotion before 10/20/2014 and my tasks changed! (E.g., "book a stay with the app" became "book 9 stays with the app").
    A. See this post from IHG's FlyerTalk representative.

  8. Q. Does a Holiday Inn Express stay count as a Holiday Inn stay?
    A. No

  9. Q. What are the conditions for the free nights being awarded?
    A. Free nights must be redeemed by December 31st, 2015 and must be claimed by January 31st, 2015 or members will automatically be awarded applicable points. Free Nights can only be used in participating IHG hotels and may not be transferred. A Free Night is valid only for one standard room night rate and applicable taxes (not including breakfast). Redemption is subject to availability of the rooms of hotels specially provided for this promotion. The hotel rooms hotels specially provided for this promotion shall be determined at IHG’s discretion.

  10. Q.I chose the 2 free nights award, how do I book them?
    A. Go to your My Account page on ihg.com (after logging in). On the left hand masthead you will see an option labeled "Free Night Status". The page will show how many free nights you have available and provides a way to book the nights. Note that it's a bit clumsy -- an initial search will show that the lowest price is Free, but until you click thru you won't know if it's really available for your preferred nights.

  11. Q. Can I trade the free nights?
    A. Not on FlyerTalk. They are specifically designated non-transferable.

Post #2585 has a link to the Dashboard. You can "Claim" free nights there.

Please update the FAQ as seems expedient.

"Expiration date" is the standard US English term.
It has been in all the fine print here for decades

I had a qualifying stay from 12th-13th September post this morning but none of my offers are showing as "In progress".

I've definitely registered, with a start date of 10th September.

Thanks
I had a stay from 11 to 12 sept posted yesterday and not showing up in "In the Nights" promo page. Based on the last "Big Win" promo, it seems that the system sweeps for status update once a week (in the beginning of week). If this follows the same logic, it will probably be updated next week only.

I've been getting the same problem on and off. It is currently working for me though.

Does anyone have any advice on the book the best flex rate with breakfast and bonus point package?

I cannot find any hotels that actually do this, When booking I can click on the box to add breakfast, but if I go t the tab to add on the bonus points on it won't let me keep the breakfast. This seems top be the case on all of the hotels.

I posted some info about searching for this one in posts 587 & 609, it's a case of searching for them unfortunately.

Difference between bonus point and bonus point with breakfast rates to meet offer?

Should be a no-brainer here. But I'm seeing a property that offers free breakfast for all rooms; yet there's a rate stating "1,000 point package plus breakfast" (this a Holiday Inn). Then seeing a Holiday Inn Express property, with free breakfast for all rooms, with only a "1,000 point bonus package."

One of my offers is titled "Bonus Point Package Reward" with the text "Book 1 stays (sic) using the Bonus Points Package with breakfast rate to earn more points faster."

The one having "with breakfast" in the rate name is significantly higher than the property having bonus point packages. So would rather book the less expensive property if it meets the criteria. Would it?

And how can an IHG property that already provides free breakfast offers a bonus points "with breakfast" option? Is it some form of room service? On-site restaurant separate from where continental breakfast is served? A typo in the booking engine?

If the T&C for your offer is the same as the one I have HIX will have been omitted as breakfast is free for everyone.

The points and breakfast when booked will go through at the IHG end with a different rate code which will in turn trigger the ITN dashboard when the stay posts.

I've never seen an HI that offers breakfast to all so can't help with that one sorry, I am positive the rate you need to book though will be the more expensive one that is points plus breakfast. This rate is normally the best flex rate plus the add ons, so for example

Room charge £100
Add points £5
Add breakfast £20
Total £125

It's annoying when you look at it as normally the flex and points can be almost double the advance rate.

Another bug bear is booking these rates when travelling alone. The breakfast option covers two guests and some just add the charge on for two (some discount it) so on many occasions it is cheaper to order and pay for breakfast on arrival rather than online.

Exclamation

Okay, I searched the thread and don't think this credit card issue has been asked here, although it's been asked - and remains unanswered - on IHG's forum. The problem is nicely summarized over there by GF, who I'm quoting:

Here is another issue regarding the "Into the Night" program. .... One of my things I need to complete is to "Apply for the IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card". Here's the problem: .... I click on the "Learn More" button to go to details page about applying for the card. So far, so good. Then I read through the fine print, and see the following paragraph as the next to last paragraph from the bottom of the page ...

**Must be an IHG® Rewards Club member and must register your member number in advance to participate in this Offer. IHG® Rewards Club member may only receive total amount of points once. Points compliments of IHG® Rewards Club. This Offer will only be rewarded on IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card applications submitted through this “Into the Nights” promotional site between October 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014. Chase Bank USA, N.A. is not responsible for fulfillment of the bonus points Offer for applying for the card through the Into the Nights Promotion. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for bonus points to be posted onto your account. IHG reserves the right of final interpretation. So that you are awarded your 2,000 point bonus for applying, Chase will provide only your Member ID to IHG®.

Notice the date that I bolded. It says it you have to submit the card application between October 1, 2014 and December 31. What!!!??? The "Into the Nights" program starts September 4th! Is this a typo, or an oversight, or are they hoping that people will not notice this detail, and people will unknowingly apply too early, and therefore be denied (screwed out of) their corresponding points for the promotion? I could not get a straight answer by calling the IHG help number. I don't mind applying for the card, but if I'm going to do it, I'd rather do it sooner than later, and not have to wait for Oct. 1st.

Just to check, are AMB weekend night rates (intercontinental.com/AMBWeekend) counted as a qualifying night for into the night fulfilment.

Depending on how the points post, your free night might post as qualifying or not. The paid nights are qualifying.
