Currently here for 4 nights. Booked 2 Del Harbour View and upgraded to 2 x Executive Suites Harbour View on the 14th floor, so can't complain especially as one night is on an AMB voucher.
Spire gift is $135 food discount voucher, AMB gets 2 x drinks vouchers per room (worth $100+ each given the prices).
Shockingly expensive here though, if you are from the UK. £30 for a margherita pizza in the lobby, £11 for a beer. Breakfast was 'reduced' to £30 each (£23 for the kids) plus tax if I agreed on arrival to take it each day.
Hotel definitely needs a refurb, can't argue with that. It is well maintained but feels old.
Construction on either side is shockingly ugly, especially around the pool. Can't hear a thing in our room to be fair. My wife was speechless when she saw the state of the building work.

Wouldn't you be better paying for club than buying breakfast? This would get you better value at the same price point. I have always had club at this property mainly from RA but with an excellent lounge breakfast or downstairs buffet if you choose plus the other benefits, it seems perverse to just pay for breakfast.
I assume the dining credit was HKG $ but may be worth editing to avoid confusion.

The only time I observed any construction a few months ago was on arriving at the property and from the gym. To be fair we didn't use the pool.

Unfortunately very true. Back in 2015 it was 12,30 HKD to the Sterling, today we are at 9,70 HKD to the Sterling. Not that bad for the Eurozone. The EUR fluctuates between 8,85 HKD and 8,05 HKD. If you account in Sterling, probably every place outside the UK appears to be shockingly expensive nowadays.

I'm using my Barclays Free Night voucher to stay at the HK IC in early May on a Saturday night.
With it being a redemption and me being a Spire Elite with IHG (but not an Amabassador). I know that there's no upgrade on the cards for free. So I e-mailed them and asked what the cost would be to upgrade to a harbour view room (it's the main reason I want to stay there) and also the price of the Lounge for one person (which appears to be a slight discount for requesting it ahead of check-in).
I got a response saying HK$800 + 10% service charge for the harbour view, and HK$826 + 10% service charge for the lounge. I've taken a look at the cash price for the rooms that night and a standard superior room is HK$2469.2 and a harbour view is HK$3175.6. That's a difference of H$705.60.
I don't really want to quibble with them over HK$95, but is it unusual for the upgrade offer to be more than the difference in the cash booking price?

the good times have ended for RAs at IC HK, no longer getting an upgrade to a suite, you get a harbour view room
it hurts getting a downgrade after IHG just made it tougher to re-qualify for RA

If by the end of this year, the picture is that most of the expensive+decent IC's where the previous RA upgrade was Exec/Club/Suite and a decent room upgrade from entry level room..... have for +2cat taken that to extremes .. with counting eg
o room+view so eg deluxe city view, deluxe nice view, deluxe high floor
o club room (ie superior-deluxe-clubroom itself just a superior/deluxe room)
so far , this bad +2cat applies to at least
IC-HK
IC-HCMC
IC-Park Lane
IC-Berlin
Plus dumbing down (standardising) club food offerings allowed by IC's to boot
Then I will be done with IHG , both IC and non-IC going forwards, from Jan2018
Maybe we need a new RA thread with wiki, detailing before/after RA room upgrades under old rules and this new +2cat rule??

They stick to the two level upgrade + club now. Check the RA experience thread, there is a listing of the categories. They still upgrade to club and the club is still excellent.

I too like the club at IC HK but in the end I feel the IC GS club is just as good (and more clubby) and I will get nearly the same room / view for 30%+ less $$$

I agree, Scubaccr. A thread to cover RA experiences since the enhancements is a good idea.

Had a recent stay at IC Hong Kong for one night. During reservation, I informed them that I was celebrating wedding anniversary and to my surprised, they had some strawberries and champagne waiting for us in the room.
Although I declined get the harbour view upgrade for $90 USD (they were definitely upselling), was very impressed at the champagne selection (Perrier Jouet). As always, we enjoyed the room and the view that it offers in the main lobby. Not to mentioned, they gave me 4 drinks vouchers that we were able to use the very next morning before departing
A+ for IHG HK once again

I'll be here tomorrow for the first time. I'm a Spire Ambassador and booked a Deluxe Room because it was only 100 HKD more than the superior room. Will be using the free weekend night certificate.
What should I expect or reasonably request in terms of an upgrade?
I'm going to read through as much of this thread as I can but does anyone have any tips or advice to help me enjoy my stay (like any info about current construction or rooms to avoid)?
