I was wondering why the IHG website shows a different price for the transfer from Malé....

Green Tax of USD 6.00 per person per night will be collected at the resort. Return speedboat transfer charges (airport-resort-airport) of USD 150 nett per adult and USD 75 nett per child (below 12 years old) is payable upon check out at the resort.
$150 net versus $229 net from what Lizie's email says.

I'm just looking at a simple hotel near Malé for 2 or 3 nights after my 8 days on a boat dive trip. I'll be using points so I don't want to pay an arm and a leg to transfer to a far-off resort for just 2-3 nights.
And this HI looks just good for what I need.

Guys, I would not book this resort for now.... I sailed past it 3 days ago and there is a huge construction going on at the Northern side of the island. Not sexy at all..... I'd call the hotel up to see how long this is going to last...

Sort of Kandooma related - in yesterdays (26/9) The Times Travel supplement there was a feature about Indian Ocean Escapes and I noticed this holiday 5 Hidden Maldives and thought I recognised the name of the first island, Guraidhoo. I realised that this is the island which is a couple of hundred yards from HI Kandooma and where some of the staff live. Just thought it was interesting that stays were encouraged.

I have a somewhat spontaneous trip planned for the Maldives. Had to book a free ticket by Nov 1, limited by blackout dates and my work schedule, so chase Maldives on a whim because, hey, free ticket! The Maldives haven’t really been on my bucket list but when doing my research it seems like the HI Maldives is a really great value. Just wondering if anyone has any recent stays or updates here?

Points are available at 27.5k per night, which become 20625/night after 4th night free. Cash rates are quite cheap as well, for $167/night (with a $1 add on for breakfast). Even though the points are quite cheap, I’m thinking with the breakfast add on for $1pp, it’s going to be a better deal than paying $30pp ($60 total) with points. Thoughts about this?

The property did reach out (good communication!) with some info and even though it’s an award stay I will still be upgraded to a beach villa from a garden villa (pending availability) as a Platinum, with cash upgrade available to OWV but they can’t tell me the price yet. I’m thinking of doing a cash upgrade for 1 or 2 nights just to experience a water villa.

Thanks everyone for posting - it was a fun read to go through since I hadn’t been aware of this property before!

I went fishing and they would cook the fish on the same day evening. if you didn't catch any fish, you can have fish for free. it's pretty cool. the fish is very delicious too - just grill it and put some water on top of it. since it is very fresh, so it is very delicious.

I emailed them asking about any construction projects (looking at a February 2021 stay) and they said there is no construction going on. Maybe it was just a short term thing?

It was too big to be a short term thing.... We were sailing from Alimathaa to Maafushi and when we passed by the HI, I asked our cruise manager if this was the HI and he confirmed it was. I could recognize the 3 domes near the "Kitchen". It could have been just next door, on Guraidhoo but too close to my taste

But I don't see why they would "lie" on the email though. So yeah, let's hope the GPS on my phone was wrong then.

Trying to use IHG points / reward nights for family of 3 (2 adults and one 11 yr kid) but I get the below option only (sleeping room with occupancy 2). Tried calling the hotel but did not get a clear response if they provide Garden / Beach Villa & can allow the kid to stay. Any thoughts?
Also any ideas what is the next room type they upgrade to (complimentary)

When we last stayed in late 2018 we were upgraded on a points reservation to a Ocean View King Duplex Villa.
Wife and I with our 2 year old daughter.

I just looked at the website and it appears they have adjusted the names of the room types but I do notice that they indicate up to 3 persons can stay in each room type.
I also recall that children under 12 eat free at this resort.

We had a blast hope you enjoy as well.

For reward stay they make it 2 person only - I tried to search with a kid and it shows no availability (though the HI confirmed they will add the kid manually). However the bigger issue is the extra charges for the third person (kid age > 12 yrs). The interesting part is if u do paid stay the same room type can accommodate 3 folks but on reward stay 3rd person will be charged extra.

any recent reviews. IHG reviews are great. Plan on spending 3 reward nites there with 2 kids.

They confirmed they would make an exception depending on the age of the kids. but charge $60/night for another bed. Hoping I get Plat upgraded and not need a + bed? It's strange that most resorts do 3 max occupancy but nice they'd make an exception
What do you do with 2 kids? How do they enforce the age limits? check passports?

Also they said half off MLE transfers. Can i do better on my own or do I have to use theirs?
