Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross UK

Looks like the Bellhouse Hotel in Beaconsfield is going to be rebranded as the CP Gerrards Cross.

The company that owns the property (Cairn Hotel Group) have recently rebranded a couple of independent properties in the north of England to Holiday Inn and are currently converting The Barkston Gardens Hotel to Hotel Indigo Kensington/Earls Court.

They also have a really bizarre policy about breakfast;
  1. They issue you on check in a coupon for the number of guests in the room, this tells you that breakfast is €17.00 per person.
  2. They pre-charge breakfast x number of guests to your room!
  3. When you check out, unless you present the original coupon, they don't remove breakfast from your bill.

Wierd!!

Thanks for letting me know. We're staying there next month, so I'll ask about it upon check-in.

Yes, they have some weird policies. Back in 2007 we stayed there on points, but they charged us for the tourist tax (taxe de séjour) anyway. EUR 0,80 for every adult is not that much, but I've never paid for it when I've had no expenses in a hotel.

Oh, as for the waterpark in the shopping centre adjoining, I think it has closed down.
I could see the slides etc., but no sign of any water!

Yes, according to their website it's closed for refurbishment... or forever, it's not clear.

I'm told it's just for the summer. As it is an indoor park most people are at the beach in the summer anyways. I expect it will be open again once school starts.

I don't think you get out of paying the tourist tax because it's a reward stay.
Also it varies by location, this year Calais was €0.80 per person, Dijon was €1.50 per person

We have always been charged when in France, I try and get them to charge it to the room, as well as one item from the minibar so as to earn some points for the stay.

In Dijon the stay posted automatically with points, in Calais I had to phone Helpdesk. On both stays I then seemed to also earn points on the room charge even though it was a reward stay.
It seems to pick up the rack room rate if you have to do a retro claim!

Good news.
Still the CP is a very good option for design, location, club lounge and service.

We tried this once in a Comfort hotel in Nice. We tried very hard to tell them that we would prefer not having the coupon, but they refused. So we had to hide that 6 coupons (2x 3 nights) somewhere so that we can return them at check-out. :td:

It appears that the candlewood in Auburn Hills, MI is also leaving. The sign was removed from the highway on my way home from work Friday.

Frankly, I'd wonder why a leisure traveler to Auburn Hills wouldn't automatically elect to stay at the Crowne Plaza,

In my estimation, it is an excellent value.

A whole gaggle of CS left on July 31. The two you mentioned in Michigan.... Illinois lost CS Schaumburg, CS Hoffman Estates, CS Wheeling, and in Kentucky CS Louisville East.

I have stayed at all of these and will miss them greatly. They were all old school Candlewoods with the sturdy floors. I hate the new buildings that have the floors that make noise constantly... seems like cheap construction.

Schaumburg, IL Staybridge leaves in a few weeks
