Shooting at former HI Durango (Colorado)

As part of the HI brand upgrade discussed in this flyertalk thread, the Durango, Colorado HI is no longer part of the chain. That hotel is now calling itself the "Downtown Inn" now.

According to the Durango, Colorado newspaper, the town's former HI was the site of a shooting:
The Durango Herald:
N.M. man shot at local motel
Albuquerque man arrested on Sunday in connection with Durango shooting

Article Last Updated: Sunday, February 26, 2012 7:58pm

The article also describes drug use and heavy drinking by occupants of two different groups; they had met one another at the hotel pool.

Good call, IHC, on removing this hotel from the chain!

Crowne Plaza Phuket

Does someone knows when the Crowne Plaza Resort Phuket opens? It is now showing on the IHG.com website but no opening dates are mentioned. It says 2quarter of 2012 but no specific date.

Saw the construction side today. The site is right next to All Seasons place a bit after the Plaza Athene and before CRC Tower and Conrad. Another nice option if you need to go to the office there.

IC Heilong Lake and Sancha Lake

黑龙滩长岛天堂洲际酒店
Heilong Lake InterContinental is set to open in Q2, 2012. (In May 2012, according to a Chinese blog post) Very interesting property, easily accessible from CTU airport. Heilong is a very nice area.

Furthermore, IC Sancha Lake (三岔湖) appeared, which should be fairly close by, opening Q3.

As per this thread on AFF, the IC and HI at Burswood Perth may be on the way out:

IC and Indigo King Abdullah Financial District, Riyadh. No date.

FinalCallDXB Mar 12, 2012 11:40 pm

IC Riyadh KAFD is listed on the IC website for 2014. No idea for the Indigo but would assume the same ballpark time frame.

Quite a few in the pipeline for Riyadh now. There is at least one more Crowne Plaza to come at the ITC complex (2013?) and have also seen Crowne Plaza billboards on a site on Olaya Street. Another Holiday Inn is also coming up on the IHG website for Olaya for early next year.

Will be nice to get some new stock in Riyadh as the rates there are out of all proportion to the caliber of the hotels.

Ha, that press release is a good laugh! Sanya companies talking about being honest :D I wonder how this one ends.

The former GM is now in IC Tangshan, btw, and Huayu also owns Beijing Deshengmen HI.

Is it that bad? I heard mixed reviews. I used to stay there a lot in the past. I heard they reverted back to the old name.
I will be in SZ for 5 days from tomorrow, and decided not to take chances and stay at the IC instead.

Fine. It wasn't a great hotel. But it would be nice to have an IHG hotel in that area. Or even better, Calabasas or Westlake Village.
