We are contacting you regarding your upcoming Priority Club Reward Night reservation for the Crowne Plaza Cleveland, OH, arriving on October 22, 2011. Unfortunately, this hotel is no longer part of the IHG system effective October 7, 2011 and is now the Cleveland City Centre Hotel.
Looking at Tripadvisor reviews, it seems that most rooms need renovation still. |

Hotel Indigo St Petersburg, Russia
Rebrand of an existing hotel in St Petersburg, Russia to take place by summer 2012 to create the first Hotel Indigo in Russia.
http://www.ihgplc.com/index.asp?PageID=57&newsid=2703 Also Holiday Inn Walsall M6 J10, UK to open by the end of the year. From the address, this looks like a rebrand of a hotel that was previously called the Compass Hotel (and prior to that Quality Hotel). |
Just returned from the Palm Springs area and the HI Palm Springs (at the corner of Sunrise Way and Palm Canyon Drive) is now closed! I was told by a local that the hotel is evidently being taken over by Joie de Vivre Hotels. Never stayed there when in the area but I think the reviews were generally good and the hotel only had HI flag a couple of years after an extensive remodel.

Holiday Inn Express Aneheim West gone 12/28/2010, now Magnuson
I was doing a search of Anaheim area hotels on the PC site today, and noticed this one (which I had stayed at multiple times) was missing from the list. I did a web search on the name, and found out through TripAdvisor that it has became a Magnuson. Apparently IHG corporate told someone that the hotel left the IHG family on 12/28, though the hotel was answering its phone as Holiday Inn Express for a number of days after that. This had obviously originally been a conversion from something else to HIX. The rooms never looked anything close to traditional HIX rooms. They had older furnishings, and -- hardest to change -- electrical outlets in really useless spaces (thus hard to plug in a laptop, etc, anywhere near a practical work surface, even in giant two-room suites that I often got upgraded into off of cheap rates!). Still, the breakfast was up to HIX standards, and the staff I dealt with was always really nice. The location, though, was quite out of the way for most anything (a long drive from both most business, conference, and leisure destinations). It thus had to keep its prices very low to attract anyone that far out. I presume this is part of the 700ish HIs/HIXs that were dumped en masse around the turn of the year: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/inter...ghlight=Choice I wish we could just get a list of those 700ish at once, instead of waiting to discover them one by one. Meanwhile, Magnuson has even much worse. They took over a complaint-ridden dump in Santa Ana CA (Civic Center Inn) that Best Western got rid of years ago! Perhaps their specialty is picking up any hotel dumped by anyone? :) The most amusing thing: I stayed there last night, and checking in was met by a hotel clerk who recognized me from my stays there when it was a Holiday Inn Express. She joked with me that I'm not being loyal to Holiday Inn Express! :) I have no idea how it was as a Magnuson, but Baymont is very roughly WyndhamRewards' equivalent of an HIX, so it makes sense. |
There will be a change of management from Holiday Inn Surfers Paradise to Outrigger with effect from 10 January 2012

CP Andorra will become HI Andorra (again!) as of December 1, 2011:

Can not find HIX Senigallia (Ancona) Italy in the system anymore. At 10K it was a great bargain for a (near) beach hotel in summer. Standard HIX inside - and rather new, so it is strange that it is gone now.

HI Munich Schwabing finally closes its doors over the next few weeks and will be demolished.
A new 5-star will be built and open 2014, not yet known who will manage it. |
HIX Warsaw Airport shows up on the booking engine. Opening 12/30/2012 or Automn/3rd quarter 2012.
