I spent 2-3 nights in 2013, which was a great stay.
I was allocated to the Club wing, but I rather asked for a room with an ocean view on a high floor. Yes, I could see some renovation efforts, but I did not think it's worth paying $300+ per night.
The Club long was decent, much better than I thought. The (head?) concierge was very nice.

Not impressed and in fact quite furious right now.
I'm supposed to be checking in tomorrow but noticed I have no reservations! Called customer service and was connect to a great supervisor named Eric. Turns out the IC SJU decided to cancel my reservation on March 13 but didn't even have the courtesy to contact me! Eric spoke directly to the hotel to get them to honor the reservation and rate and they pretty much told him to go take a hike. IC gave Eric the reason of "Global 2" for the cancellation but no one at IHG has ever heard of Global 2.
Eric turned a pretty bad situation into a good experience. I'm booked at a lesser hotel, for a much higher rate but they are treating this as a walk and will be reimbursing the 1st night stay and taxi fare.

I have an upcoming award stay in 2 weeks. As a an IHG plat is there any chance for a room upgrade? I have never done an award stay at an Intercontinental property.

I stayed there in April 2013. No upgrade as the platinum means nothing at a IC. I made it known we were on our honeymoon, and they still tried to sell me the ambassador membership, which I declined.
I did receive some "match play" for the casino. That came in handy. The pool was nice, though.

Nice stay
Had a nice stay here last week for 2 nights. Got upgraded to ocean view as a Platinum member. Great renovated hotel. I also enjoyed the pool/beach access (was not crowded at all) and jacuzzi. My rate included breakfast for 2 which was pretty good.
I will definitely return.

Any recent RA experiences here? I arrive on Friday and my reservation is still showing the basic room I booked.
I'm mostly interested in hearing about upgrades and club access/quality.
Thanks.

Mosquitos?
People that stayed here - are there a lot of mosquitos on the property? There are some health issues with bugs and zika virus going on in Puerto Rico and we're gauging if the resort is a high risk area. I've seen one report in late 2015 saying that a room was full of big mosquitos but would like to corroborate here.
