Yes RA is not something that you can get a comp. You need to find someone to upgrade you.

You must be referred by another Royal Ambassador member or stay the requisite number of nights (50 to 60, at least three different ICs). Nor does ICH comp Ambassador, except to those who have been downgraded from RA. Ambassador is only available for purchase regardless of your status in any other program. Ambassador is not a frequent stay program like others so comp'g is not practiced. Some memberships may be given to high yield customers and corporate clients, but this must be arranged through the sales office.

I have an RA cert still, but looking to get #1 1K GF onto ambassador as she has some IC stays upcoming and would like some status, free internet, etc.

There is a $ 200 USD fee to join the Ambassador program, so they don't comp this membership. However, there is promotion code 3598 to get free Ambassador membership if one stays 3 qualifying nights at IC-branded hotels before July 31, 2011. Unfortunately, this won't help with what you are looking for.

But she won't have the benefits until he completes the three stays. Also, even RA charges the initial $200 sign-up fee if one is not already an Ambassador. And free internet at ICs isn't a benefit of being Ambassador, just RA.
