Elite rollover nights question

Not only did my rollover nights post , but got a surprise status increase.
I ended last year thinking that I had only ~38k qualifying points, ~4k non-qualifying? points, and 72 nights so expected to be Plat with 32 nights rollover
After the first of the year, my points showed ~42k+ with no differentiation if qualifying or not, so had figured that I would be Plat having topped 40k points and no rollover and was honestly fine with it. I had the last few weeks last year off and could've bought 3 nights but didn't.
Checked yesterday and found 32 rollover nights and Spire status!
That's how you move up to #1 on the "I need to book a room!" APP list and I'll be leaning heavily toward IHG on future per-Diem trips, of which I have many this year
