Welcome gift?
Is welcome gift still an official ambassador benefit? I'm not sure but I think I might have heard that it is not? Staying at an IC right now and this is the first time I haven't received any.

For a long time it has not been listed in the program's terms; does however, as mentioned by other posters, appear on the website.
That said, most ICs I stay at have done away with it or replaced it with "symbolic" things.
Not that I would miss it, anyway...

Good question. Most often it had seemed to be something perishable/consumable (e.g. food/drink), including as little as an apple or three that may even be standard for a room type in a hotel and thus really nothing special. But the benefits list posted has the food/drink benefits listed separately from the in-room amenity. Could the in-room amenity now be things like free pay-for-view movie or Internet? The era of ICs giving special in-room items to take home as an Ambassador seems to be largely gone.

I've been trying to find the old wording from the T&Cs, which said something like the welcome gift being an item representing the location you were staying at.
In the past, I have had things like a fan from Singapore, a book of New York walks from the Barclay, local speciality foods from Hamburg and a bottle of local brandy in Vienna - all thoughtful and interesting gifts which didn't cost much. I would much rather have that than a bottle of wine or some generic chocolates.

Ahh- old topic - gift is not apples or fruit plates. I'm not sure why people keep considering this as a welcome gift.
Sure sometimes IC Frankfurt will give you some "mustard chutney" as a gift- but that's another story

I stay at the COEX Seoul , and didnt get anything . The staff was great, but beside that this hotel is far behind other Asian InterCon . They send me a survey about my stay, and I did remark what went wrong and ask for a feedback from them and untill now no one at Coex has reply. I always get gift from InterCon Bangkok, Manila and Hong Kong , besides the fruit and Mineral waiter. IN Europe I always get Wine or other local food as gift .

Anything tangible and nice (eg mugs from IC Dusseldorf, Bears from IC Strings when it was good, beautiful pen IC HKG) is what I care about. Even chocolates in a box, do something besides just something to eat.
