Delay reason
Hello
is it possible to find out a delay reason for a past flight ? Egyptair are citing ATC at LHR causing delay to inbound flight CAI to LHR which as a knock on, delayed my flight as it used that aircraft for the return LHR to CAI by about two hours (they are also stating that this flight was late due to finding a slot). The two hour delays caused missed connection CAI to LXR (also with Egyptair on a through ticket LHR-CAI-LXR), resulting in a delay of over 8 hrs as the next available flight wasn't until 06:00 the next day landing at 07:35 - should have landed at 23:00 previous night.
However am not sure if the delay to the inbound from CAI to LHR is relevant to their argument? Any advice welcome and please be kind ! Thank you.

Any ATC delays for the inbound flight is relevant for your flight as well. "knock-on effects" of previous flights are recognised in case law as exempting the carrier from the duty to pay compensation also for the affected later flights (within reason ofc). If indeed caused by ATC restrictions, you don't have a claim.

Thank you that’s helpful info. I wasn’t sure if info about the previous inbound flight was relevant or not. Will see what Egyptair can provide I think and take it from there as think it’s up to them to prove what happened not me. We were told nothing at Heathrow other than it was delayed coming in - but I do know it was in fact late setting off from Cairo so not sure if that’s because they’d been told by Heathrow to delay departure from CAI. The Egyptair reply said it was LHR ATC no mention of ATC Cairo. Thank you again.
