Adding a passenger to booked flight - Need advice on next steps

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. I'm reaching out because I have a little issue and was hoping for some advice. I booked a flight for three people, but now a fourth person wants to join us on the trip. Unfortunately, I've already contacted Expedia, and they informed me that they can't add an extra passenger, and I'm also unable to locate the flight anymore.

I've been considering booking the same flight through RIO, but the problem is that Expedia has informed me that I can't cancel the previously booked flight and rebook it while still receiving a refund for the ticket.

Do any of you have any ideas or solutions to this problem? Would it be best to contact the airline directly or do you now if I could change the end destination from GRU to GIG?

Thank you all for your help in advance.

Here some flight information:
CAI - DOH (MS 935) (BUSINESS(J) )
DOH - GRU (LA 5295) (BUSINESS(I) )
GRU - DOH (LA 5294) (BUSINESS(Z) )
DOH - CAI (MS 938) (BUSINESS(Z) )

This fourth person would have to be on a separate ticket. I think you first need to figure out if these flights are sold out. I would go directly to the airlines' websites and check to see if you can book the same flights. If it's sold out, then there's not much anyone can do unless this fourth person wants to travel in economy instead.

You should also check the fare rules to see if you can apply the current ticket value to a new ticket on the same airline (you may or may not lose money if the new ticket is cheaper--again depends on the fare rules); refunds are only allowed for refundable tickets.

Also, why do you want to change your flights to GIG?

Communicating with the airlines won't achieve anything for an expedia issued ticket.

Thank you so much for your response. I was hoping to reschedule my flight because I found out that I could book the exact same flights if I decide to travel to GIG. They are the same til GRU:
CAI - DOH (MS 935) (BUSINESS(J) )
DOH - GRU (LA 5295) (BUSINESS(I) )
GRU - DOH (LA 5294) (BUSINESS(Z) )
DOH - CAI (MS 938) (BUSINESS(Z) )

That's why I was hoping to make the change and also the reason, why the flights can not be sold out.

Maybe you should have considered and decided the destination before buying the tickets to GRU?

Anyway, any rebooking will be subject to the fare rules and most likely a change fee per passenger will be applied, i.e. most likely an expensive exercise.

You can't add a passenger to an existing reservation. The 4th passenger will need to travel on a separate ticket/reservation.
