Does the CCPA apply to airlines?
Question in the title. CCPA is the new California privacy law, somewhat similar to GDPR in Europe. In particular it allows you to instruct companies not to sell your information, and they may not discriminate against you based on this.
Most companies address this specifically in their privacy policies (either by stating that they never sell your data, or by telling you how to opt out of the sale of your data) but I can't find anything about in in any airlines' privacy policies. UA's privacy policy hasn't even been updated since 2016.

They claim it does not. One of the umbrella agencies put out a statement on it... wish I remember which one, but the gist of it was federal law grants them
immunity from most state regulation including CCPA. Thats their claim, anyway.

This probably actually needs to be tested in court to get a definitive answer. I wonder if the CA AG has any desire to try to get airlines to comply.
