Spend Points/Miles?
I'm not certain whether I should have posted this elsewhere. Sorry if this is not proper forum. OK, I have learned to accumulate points and miles and have quite a few in various places. 100K MR, about 600K UR, Airline miles wife and I separate AK-180K and 85K, AV 480K and 350K , AA 50K and 100K, DL 134K and 139K a few on SQ and e hotel Hilton over 350K, IHG 115K and 85K. I know what to do with my primary hotel Accor points as a week in Dec/Jan got me halfway to Platinum. I just spend points once I reach the status for next year.
My question is: should I be using these points before chasing others? Should I just scan forums and points/miles blogs for best uses of MR and UR? If you book the "fine hotels" with Chase or AX, you get benefits when you pay cash plus you get your loyalty benefits. That said, are these points burning a hole in my pocket?
We are both retired and in good enough health to travel. I know I can transfer the credit card points to airlines so that's a thing. I hate to get bad value like paying Amazon or gift cards. Perhaps it is worth booking something through Chase or AX travel portal and using points as Chase is $.015 instead of .01.
Yes, I realize it is entirely up to me but does anyone think I might stop accumulating? I have pretty much always been Accor Platinum and will likely always be. HIlton and IHG give something with the credit card. I'm rambling so will stop now.
When I get free time I promise to peruse the fora and see if I can give something back. Thanks in advance.

I would be spending some, as inevitability they will devalue. More so if you are getting more than using.
AK = Alaska AS?
AV = Avianca AV or BAEC avios?
With ffp partners a lot of overlap with AS, BA & AA.
Be mindful of expiry Miles/Points that Do and Don't Expire. Click to open the wiki.
Paying hotels with Amex MR & Chase UR is the same as paying cash: you get loyality benefits

There is no right or wrong answer.
