Business Insider's "revenue management" hack
I've seen this article and several others citing the same trick in the news lately:
http://www.businessinsider.com/two-words-that-will-always-get-you-an-upgrade-to-first-class-2018-2
I couldn't stop laughing when I read it. This has got to be utter nonsense, right?

Reminds me of the saying “You can dazzle me with brilliance, but don’t try to baffle me with... b.s.” definitely b.s. and won’t work. Some airlines, such as American Airlines, won’t even permit calling on RM unless, perhaps, one is Concierge Key. That’s by invitation only, requires much corp travel Moxie or upward of $50k spend annually.
This so-called hack works as well as dressing nicely or stating “Hello? It’s my birthday!” or “Were on our honeymoon.”

No question this would not work 100% of the time - that is total nonsense. But, for me, it worked once, and it was not even my idea.
