Help with maximizing points for a trip to Maldives or Bora Bora
Hi,
I'm trying to maximize my points for an anniversary trip with my wife. The issue is that we also have two small children, so how can I get all 4 of us to the (preferably) Maldives with my points to minimize the cash pain. I have the following points:
Citi - 180k
Chase - 200k
IHG - 170k
Flights would be from Macau or Hong Kong rather than North America. My wife currently has no cards in her name, and we have time to apply for and earn probably 3-4 more credit card bonuses in that time. I am at 4/24 but already have the IHG, Citi Premier, Citi Prestige, Sapphire Preferred, and Sapphire Reserve so it would have to be a different program.
I realize that F is out of the question, but hoping to do J for 4. I threw in the IHG points, but hoping to stay somewhere a little nicer than the Holiday Inn in the Maldives. The IHG points would probably be better for something like Bora Bora which is a distant second choice.
Any ideas?

You can actually fly from HK to MLE using points from BA (Transfer from Chase to BA)
but dates are very limited especially if you are looking for direct flight.
I found tix for 4 (one way) from HKG to MLE direct flight on 06/29 for 50k + $113 Economy.
The main cost I think for Maldives is the Seaplane or boat ride from the Airport to the Island. Some nicer hotel like Park Hyatt and St Regis is upward $550 per person.
Good luck!

Alaska airlines mileageplan charges 22.5k for infra Asia business class award travel on Cathay Pacific (Maldives is considered part of Asia for their booking purposes). 180k miles would get you 4 RT biz tickets Macau-MLE or HKG-MLE. Only issue I would see is CX only flies Saturday/Sunday to/from MLE.
SQ has hkg-sin-mle biz class award tickets for 90k RT (for 380k for 4). There are daily flights to MLE.
