Help with SFO to BKK in J for two
Looking for two tickets for my parents in J, with the most efficient use of miles.
They have never flown J before.
Est date of travel: 10/1
SFO/SJC to BKK with any layover in between. Stopovers are a bonus.
Current points bank:
236k MR
446k UR
70k AA
70k AA unfortunately is only enough for 1 person, one way on JAL, so that's out of the question.
Considering SQ but have not flown them before. is their J hard product good?
CX I understand is very difficult to get award seats? Which transfer partner is the best to try and redeem for CX? BA?
Any other transfer partners I've overlooked?
Thanks in advance

You're talking about 10/1 this current year?
One way? Many programs don't allow for stopovers on 1 ways.

There are so many ways to get to BKK from SFO in J with miles.
Using UR - Transfer to United
80K plus $20 OW - Air China, United-Thai, Air China - Thai (available now)
Using UR - Transfer to Korean Air
70K plus $65 OW (available now)
Using UR & MR - Transfer to Singapore
68K plus $650 OW - might be hard to find space.
Using UR & MR - Transfer to Asia Miles
85k OW or 145K RT - Cathay. Good luck locating award space in advance.

OP, CX generally speaking has excellent availability close in. You may start seeing J/F pop up available within 2 weeks of flight date, but much more likely within 3 days (check very regularly). I would use AA miles for one person and Asia Miles for the other. If doing round trip, notice that Asia Miles is cheaper round trip vs two one ways.
