AA Exec Plat Qualifying Question

I'm making an end-of-year run to move from Platinum to Exec Platinum status on AA. My question is this:

Do my Platinum "100% Elite Mileage Bonus" points count toward my elite status qualifying for Exec Platinum?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff Muto welcome to FT

Many people do an end of year status run
Have a look in the dedicated AA forum http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...advantage-733/

Welcome to FT!

The short answer: No, they do not. Only actual flight miles (often called "butt-in-seat" miles) count. If you check your Platinum qualifying miles, you'll see that your Gold bonus didn't count toward that level.

You'll find that our American Airlines forum has a wealth of information that will be useful to you, now and in the future.

Note that you can qualify for EXP via (status) miles or (status) points. If you've had some expensive fares, be sure that you understand the difference and look at the rules carefully.

Or segments.

True, but the OP was asking about whether bonus miles count, so presumably he/she is not looking at qualifying by segments.

You're right, of course. The real short answer is "no."
