super noob question: how to register for Avios
I'm trying to register for Avios as an american, and the address field has a grayed out UK that it doesn't let me change. Is there another registration site or how do you americans do it? https://www.avios.com/gb/en_gb/my-ac...s?from=joinNav

I think you are getting Avios mixed up with Avios, or even Avios
If you look at the country selector you will see that this flavour of Avios is not available in the USA
https://www.avios.com/country-selection
That Avios is a loyalty scheme with affiliates in the UK, South Africa, Spain and Italy. There is no way of earning them in the USA
If you want to join British Airways Executive Club then go to www.britishairways.com
If you want to join Iberia Plus then go to www.iberia.com
The currency of both of the above is Avios

Your profile says that you are a BA member. If this is the case, you are already collecting Avios. To keep it simple, there are no ways to earn Avios in the US outside of the FF scheme affiliations (BA, Iberia, etc).
