Sky Team - Redemption - help needed

I will be trying to book a flight between GIG-EZE or GIG-AEP or GIG-MVD for two people however at the moment I do not have any miles in any of the sky team airline. My question would be which airlines would be the best ? to collect required miles in relatively quick time ?? So far I have found that Delta requires 12.5k miles + $37 is there any better option than this ? I have also checked Avios redemption on this route however there is no single seat available in my dates.
I only need one way ticket for two people if that makes any different.
I do have a lots of M&M , but they are quite usless in this part of the world apart of Avianca which does not fly this route. Thanks for help.

How did you check Avios availability on TAM? IIRC, ba.com sometimes has trouble displaying TAM redemption availability. I suggest calling the BAEC Service Center if you have not already done so.

I phoned up BAEC (to check TAM availability - no single seats available) and also checked online however the only thing I have managed to found was QR from GRU-EZE but I'd rather fly from GIG. So I think AR is my only option , I was even thinking to buy GOL smiles , but it is not worth it in my case.

Even though Avianca Brasil has joined *A they do not operate on this route hence my M&M miles are unusable anyway.

You can only book within 3 month before the flight. You need to call M&M. Availability seems to be pretty much the same as before. Good luck.

If you're going to wait until September before you try to book anything, you might as well re-check TAM award availability with BAEC at that time.

SkyTeam member AR = Aerolinas Argentinas doesn't seem to have a good reputation, especially for service. Also, they seem to have lots of delayed/cancelled flights as wel as schedule changes.

BTW, there's some carrier that one would never expect with a (tag) flight between Buenos Aires and Montevideo. It might be AF on a big bird. This might be of interest for you.

Also BTW, depending on your passport, you probably require a real visa in advance for Brazil and payment of a reciprocity (=entry) fee for Argentina. You pay the latter (about US$140) on the website, but you should bring a hard copy of the receipt and keep it in your passport for the next ten years (assuming USA citizen).
