Save up to go on a trip

I want to make money for travel. I'm a student btw. I'm currently using apps that will give you gift cards just by testing apps. What are your thoughts on this?

Welcome to Flyertalk!

You'll find thousands of people here who love to travel; we hope you'll be joining us in the air and in exotic lands soon.

Making and saving money a little at a time can certainly fit into your breaks as a student. If you get paid in gift cards, you have to figure out how to convert them into travel funds, which may lead to losing some value; you may be able to sell a $10 gift card for $8 in cash, for example. You need to decide if the time it takes to earn the gift cards is worth it.

You may get some people urging you to get credit cards for mileage bonuses. Be very careful with that approach, as it is easy to let credit card debt get out of hand.

Hope this is the start of a lifelong adventure with travel.

Cheers,

Doc

Not to sound patronising, but wouldn't your time be better spent getting a job? That way you would lean some valuable life lessons as well. You don't say what you are a student of, but I'm sure that a summer job or internship would complement your academics more than apps and gift cards.

Welcome to FlyerTalk. As this post is off-topic for the Info Desk, and it does not seem to be a good fit for any of our other travel-related fora, the thread has been closed. Please take a look around the site, and if you find you have questions regarding award programs or other travel-specific matters, please post them in the relevant forum.

Good luck to you.
