Changing airlines baggage question
So I'm trying to decide between 2 Beijing to Dallas flights and I'm not sure if I'll have to pay baggage on one or not. It's a Air China flight with plane change to Virgin. Air china doesn't charge for bag but Virgin usually would if booked separate.
Air China: Beijing-San Fransisco
change planes
Virgin: San Fransisco-Dallas
Would I be charged the $25 bag fee?
Thanks for the assist!

If these are booked separately, it's likely you'll be charged. If booked on the same ticket, do they have an inter line agreement? And, with the IATA agreement, the most significant carrier (Air China as it's the long transpacific leg) should determine the baggage terms.
Depending on when you plan to do this, AA will start PEK-DFW flights with a 777 in May (in June, it is served by a 787).

I assume if I book with expedia and they choose for me to change planes to Virgin that means they have an interline agreement...but if I book on air china's website they don't list a virgin connection option.
Guess I would find out when I check in x__x

I see Air China and Virgin America signed an interline agreement in 2012, and are partnered beyon that.
Also, some more digging reveals USDOT (dept. Of Transportation) rules apply to / from the USA, so the most significant Marketing carrier rules apply.
