Need help returning from PTY to West Coast
I frequently help friends book flights... Currently I have a buddy who has 50k CSP points, and enough SW southwest points to get him around the west coast domestically. He would like to return from PTY to PDX on Jan 11. I've messed with it for a few hours but cant find anything lower than the 37.5k united one-way to PDX, which IMO isn't very good value. I don't believe united allows stopovers on one-ways so there isn't any value to get from there either. Any tips or tricks to transferring those CSP points around to get a cheaper return flight than 37.5k united miles? Thanks in advance

Look for "SAAver" Coach awards on aa.com for PTY-DFW-PDX. If you find any, they should be bookable for 20K BA Avios. But, if the DFW-PDX flight is on AS metal, that segment will need to be booked as a separate redemption (by calling the BAEC Service Center) to avoid being charged BAEC's higher, multi-partner redemption rate.
