New to FlyerTalk and I have to say that the internet is fantastic in the communities it has! Never thought that I would find a community just about flying!

I didn't see any topics like this so I'm asking for help from you kind folks. I was recently on a flight from FRA to SFO and sat next to a wonderful woman who I had the best time with.

When we introduced ourselves she said her name but I didn't quite get it. After we started talking I was increasingly embarrassed to ask for her name again. So I never did quite understand what it was.

Long story short, I would love to get in touch with her again and all my Googling has lead nowhere. Any chance you kind people know a way to get the name of someone sitting next to you on a past flight?

I know this is kind of a weird request and might border on invasion of privacy but the flight was so fun with her and I really do want to get back in touch.

Sorry, no one is going to release that information and it is an invasion of privacy, not just borderline. If you didn't get the digits theres not much you can do.

Whilst she may have given her first name, that's not necessarily an invitation for your to get in touch. Even if you had remembered her first and last names, I doubt that this equates to "please call me I'm hot for you." But ultimately you can be the only judge of that. Unless she's on FT, this is not the place for help!

If this is a friendly/romantic situation I think you're SOL. DL will not release the info.

If this is related to something criminal in nature DL will release this info while cooperating with the police or with a subpoena from a judge that a lawyer can assist with.

In a word. No way. Doing so violates DL's own privacy policy which you can find for yourself on the DL website.

The only way you personally get the guy's information is by obtaining a court order. "Wanting to see" is a tough sell to most judges.

But there is a "right" way that it could be done: At OP's request, DL theoretically could contact the mystery gentleman and provide him with OP's contact info and brief message ("I was the person seated next to you on this flight; please contact me if you'd like to continue our conversation"), which he would then be free to act on or ignore. This is SOP in any professional situation when someone asks to be put in touch with a third party to whom privacy is owed: The one who seeks to initiate contact is the one whose info is shared.

AFAIK, doing so at OP's request (without revealing anything to OP about the pax) would not violate DL's obligations, so it is "merely" a matter of making it worth DL's while. If OP really wants it, perhaps a business attorney who has airline industry contacts and experience negotiating one-off deals could help. Airlines, like all companies, presumably make lawful private deals all the time if the price is right.

There is some $ offer amount ($100K? $1M?), put in front of the right office at DL, that would have them sit up and take notice of the opportunity to pad the company coffers by humoring OP, assuming that the request is lawful. That is, large enough that they would fear being dinged by their bosses or shareholders for ignoring the revenue opportunity. Unfortunately this is probably more than OP is willing to spend.

Another option is to hire an experienced private investigator to see if there is any chance that more clues can be gathered through public records and voluntary interviews, starting from whatever OP does remember.

I found this thread as I was wondering the same thing but oh well.. Was going across country from Portland Me to SF and met someone on a connection through DTW.. I was tired and slept then we talked when landing and I didn't even realize how fun she was till halfway through second leg when I awoke completely. I'd have no problem asking name and digits but was 5am and on no sleep.... Reminds me of the movie Serendipity (Maybe we meet again as I go through DTW every Month)
