Wink Internet training class for GDS

Hi...I'm looking for information for on-line GDS- Sabre- Amadeus- Nexion- ICtravel- comparisons and advice on where to start training to work at home. I was a corporate travel agent for 14 years but have been out of the business for the last 15. I've read info on sabretravelnetwork and briaini academic. All advice and information on the best way to get started would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks.

Not much on this topic on FT, I'm afraid. A couple threads I've come across before that come to mind:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...ds-access.html
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...-bookings.html

Not exactly on-topic for your question, but they may provide some resources to get you pointed in the right direction.

I actually have (non-ticketing) SABRE access but for the most part have no clue how to use it. It really is far, far more difficult and less intuitive--actually, not intuitive at all--than I'd imagined it possibly could be. If you encounter some good, low-cost (ideally free) documentation or anything, please do post back...

ITA is a completely different beast from GDS access. ITA is like Windows 8 compared to SABRE/Worldspan/etc. being DOS. Actually, no. DOS is more intuitive than the GDSes.

Lots of resources on ITA scattered around FT. One of the projects in the Information Desk is to collect those resources and point people towards them. It's on our to-do list. Here are a couple I found with a quick search:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milea...tures-ita.html
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milea...-code-ita.html
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milea...-code-ita.html
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...-software.html

And of course, any thread this guy has ever posted in:

Thank you for the responses! Guess I need to re-phrase my question as to which system is most used for remote travel consultants?

You probably need to find a host agency then ask them which system they use.

In reality the three major ones in the USA are very similar - Sabre, Travelport (Worlldspan and Apollo/Galileo) and Amadeus.

I believe most GDS's all now also have a windows interface though those who learned the "shorthand" can do that much faster.

I'm sure you've done some searching already so all I can add is that it's probably easier to ask the hotel at checkout and write it on the bill. Alternatively, many hotels include this on their invoice copy.

Welcome to FT!

Do you know which GDS your concur uses? The hotel codes differ between sabre and Travelport.

(and maybe I could do some tutoring for either gds....lol)

Agree. There isn't too much point learning everything until you know what platform a hosted agency uses so would recommend starting further upstream and go from there.
