Any reason Avelo and Breeze do not have dedicated forums? I know Avelo doesn't populate in all or most flight type searches.

(5) Which routes and airlines do you fly most often
(US Domestic, Transpacific, Kangaroo, in Asia etc) Reply: BOS, SFO, IAH, ZRH, GVA, FRA, MUC, DUB, ORK, LHR (6) What is your home airport? Reply: Company will relocate me to the US, I'm open to options work is remote with domestic and intl travel, currently would prefer BOS (can live in NH which will be tax efficient), someone would need to convince me but I would be open to living 30min-1hr drive from LAX, SFO as well (better weather), or near NYC (more cosmopolitan), I would be open to Florida as well because the weather is nice. Mostly interested in recommendation for new home hub airport, criteria: 1) LCOL / Low overall tax burden (property, sales, income) 2) Good weather (prefer 25-28C but I'm fine with few winter months) 3) Less than 1hr drive, I'm pretty airline agnostic Willing to trade between 1/2 to an extent 2) major airport hubs will be most convenient for your travels (otherwise have to add a domestic leg), but COL and taxes will also be higher 3) i wont say florida has nice weather, temps can get quite high and it's humid 4) i have heard plenty of nightmare stories about driving to lax airport. also when i visited LA, traffic was a disaster |
This is why it's always good to ask the experts :)
For sure I never thought about AA, but you can't beat 12k miles and eleven bucks, LOL. So I finally was approved for my vacay, and I am now actively looking for a carrier to fly on. I'm so glad you mentioned Cathay Pacific as they show up a lot on Google Flights as very reasonably priced across the Pacific. I'll spend this weekend looking at all three carriers instead of just two. I appreciate you both contributing to the boards here. :) |
Hello all- this looks to be the exact thread I am looking for after several days/weeks of trying to figure things out for myself. It used to be BA but my home airport has now moved from London to Lisbon
1. What is most important to you in a frequent flyer program (FFP)? upgrades, priority services, baggage allowance, good award redemption rates, better award access, lounge access, etc. >>> Lounge access is nice, as is a free baggage allowance and early seat choice. Being able to redeem inter-European trips at short notice is nice as well. Generally I don't have a list of demands where I value one aspect particularly highly 2. How many miles do you usually fly each year? How many flights/sectors? less than 25000 miles, 50000+ miles and 20-25 flights, etc. >>> On average about 1.5 round trips per year from Europe to Asia in business and around 10 Europe-Europe round trips in economy. 3. What fare class do you usually buy? first, business, premium economy, economy >>> Business for Europe to Asia and Economy for trips within Europe 4. Are you able to choose your airlines and/or class of service? Do you travel for work and/or pleasure? >>> Yes I can choose and the Asian flights are with work and the European ones predominantly leisure. For the asian trips it looks like almost all of these would be via Turkish Airlines however they don't fly from Lisbon to London so I wouldn't realistically be able to redeem these as easily. I could become a TAP frequent flyer and collect the turkish miles on their program? 5. Which routes do you fly most often? transatlantic, domestic USA, intra-Asia, etc. >>> Lisbon to London by far the most common. Followed by one or two Lisbon to Asia round trips a year. Occasionally Lisbon to elsewhere in Europe: Berlin/Zurich/Frankfurt 6. What is your home airport? >>> Lisbon, Portugal. This has only just become my new home hub hence the confusion on which to use. 7. Do you have status in any FFP? What is it? How miles do you have banked in each FFP, if any? >>> Bronze with BA, used to be Silver. I have about 400,000 avios and this is predominantly used to book last minute reward flights in any class within Europe. However my home airport is moving from London to Lisbon so I won't be able to use BA as much and their recent loyalty program changes haven't helped 8. What are your preferred airlines, if any? >>> No preference |

The basic premise of frequent flyer alliances is that you can fly a partner airline, getting status benefits, and collect ff miles/points/avios and status earning in another airline ffp. Subject the t&c's. Earnings can vary.

Hi. I have posted this in the other thread about BAEC alternatives, but I thought it better be in this thread.
I am trying to find an alternative for BAEC. I just reached BA silver and only 500 less to gold, but due to the program change, I would need to find an alternative. 1. What is most important to you in a frequent flyer program (FFP)? upgrades, priority services, baggage allowance, good award redemption rates, better award access, lounge access, etc. >>> Reply: baggage allowance, good award redemption rates and first class lounge access (if any) 2. How many miles do you usually fly each year? How many flights/sectors? less than 25000 miles, 50000+ miles and 20-25 flights, etc. >>> Reply: 50000+ miles 3. What fare class do you usually buy? first, business, premium economy, economy >>> Reply: All flights are Business 4. Are you able to choose your airlines and/or class of service? Do you travel for work and/or pleasure? >>> Reply: Yes, I only travel for pleasure 5. Which routes do you fly most often? transatlantic, domestic USA, intra-Asia, etc. >>> Reply: I do about 3 to 4 round trip LHR to HKG/PVG and about 8-10 short haul European and Asian flights every year 6. What is your home airport? >>> Reply: LHR 7. Do you have status in any FFP? What is it? How miles do you have banked in each FFP, if any? >>> Reply: BA silver and only 500 less to gold, status matched from rj gold for a year with yet 0 miles, SAS gold with 20000 level miles 8. What are your preferred airlines, if any? >>> SAS, rj or AY. Most of my asian flights are in skyteam, my other flights are flexible and can be with any alliance. I would think OW alliance is better cuz all my flights are in biz and it already covers the lounge and other priority access. Rj status looks easy to emerald but the points seems not easy to use. SAS platinum is also a good choice but it does not give me any significant extra benefits. |
I’m back in Europe and trying to get gold again with Aegean. I remember it was easy years ago. Based in Poland now.

1. What is most important to you in a frequent flyer program (FFP)?
>>> Reply: lounge access, priority services, upgrades (in that order) 2. How many miles do you usually fly each year? How many flights/sectors? >>> Reply: around 36000 miles, ~16 flights 3. What fare class do you usually buy? >>> Reply: economy or premium economy (depending on fare) 4. Are you able to choose your airlines and/or class of service? Do you travel for work and/or pleasure? >>> Reply: Pleasure, free to choose 5. Which routes do you fly most often? transatlantic, domestic USA, intra-Asia, etc. >>> Reply: 1x USA-Aisa, 2x USA-Europe 6. What is your home airport? >>> Reply: ORD 7. Do you have status in any FFP? What is it? How miles do you have banked in each FFP, if any? >>> Reply: Aegean Gold qualified for 2025 but it required going to Greece every year and doesn't give upgrades on long haul flights from US-Europe. Especially after SAS leaving Star Alliance, a good prem eco option went away. 8. What are your preferred airlines, if any? >>> Reply: pretty flexible in general, no favorites really |

Mediumn~long haul business awards can be hard to get with many ffp's. More ffp's are going from (lowish cost) award charts to dynamic pricing (like QF classsic plus), Airlines are printing gazilllions of ff miles/avios/points for frequent spenders. Fewer aircraft-routes-airline have international first class. |
