Help booking OGG-PPT

Trying to figure out a way to book OGG/HNL-PPT for my upcoming honeymoon. I had read on one the blogs that one way Korean flights were a viable option to use Chase UR points for. However the agents at korean air say it's 110K in Economy and 220K in biz/ticket.

Is there a better option for using Ultimate Reward or other airlines miles to get this flight. Preferable F but Economy would be ok as it's only 5 hours. Using my AA miles to fly home in J on Air Tahiti Nui. and flying F on Alaska on the way over.

Would love to get the Hawaiian F from OGG-PPT but if not I guess no biggie.

Thanks.

ANy miles options are awesome.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get to Tahiti on miles, particularly one way. Even harder from Hawaii.
HNL-PPT is only once a week on Hawaiian.

I would call Korean Air back, as the website plainly shows 30/45 for HNL-PPT http://www.koreanair.com/local/na/gd...sp_rm_pa03.jsp
It could be that no flights are available on Hawaiian and they are routing you through Seoul.

You can check on AA.com to see if the flights are available (and/or book with AA miles)

The only other routings will be far out of the way -- via LAX, NRT, or Auckland. (and Air New Zealand is a tough award booking) Even if you could get mileage awards on those options, it is unlikely it would be worth it.

Do you have to go to both Hawaii and Tahiti? If so, can you spend a few days elsewhere on the way (Fiji, Auckland)? If not, and there's no Hawaiian availability when you want to go, cash may really be the only option here.

I see on Expertflyer that here is P6 for the Hawaiian air flight. It also said no one-way awards are allowed but wasn't sure if that was 1. upheld or 2. the only way to really get there on HA. If it is we'll just buy the flights.

Use UA miles:

Hawaii-->Oceana, although LOTS of flying.
OGG-->HNL-->NRT-->AKL-->PPT (25K Econ/40KBiz)

OGG-HNL on HA
HNL-NRT on UA/All Nippon/Asiana
NRT-AKL on NZ
AKL-PPT on NZ

AKL-PPT usually never opens J class on NZ though.

RT bookings can include a stopover in AKL or NRT for free.

Hope that helps.
