Hi all,
So, my parents are willing to pay for me to go to Sydney this upcoming Spring Break (early March) as an early college graduation gift. I plan on using my Skypesos to go from D.C. to LAX but is $1580 a good price for Sydney from LAX? I'll have a day layover in BNE on the way back.

It sounds pretty good, but have you priced the ticket with the DL connecting flights? It might cost nothing to save your miles. Also, are you sure that DL has award space for the flights you need at LOW mileage? DL and VA have a joint venture and codeshare. QF and AA are together in the same alliance, along with Cathay for connections through HKG. On Star alliance, SYD is served by UA from LAX and SFO, or you could connect through SIN on SQ, perhaps Tokyo or Seoul on ANA or Asiana respectively.
