Hiring a private guide
Well, I'm thinking of doing this tomorrow morning, so quick advice is especially welcome
.
I wandered for about an hour today. I love getting a 'feel' for the city (Mumbai), but with my limited time I'd like to get more. I'd also like NOT to be quite as accosted by the hashish dealers, beggars and prostitutes who seem drawn to me*. I had all 3 of them today
.
So how does one find a local walking guide? In BLR, I have a lead, but I'm not sure in BOM. I could always ask the hotel, but I don't know if this is just paying WAY too much.
* - I make a regular donation through a cousin's** Indian charity, and she says that I shouldn't pay beggars of any sort. It breaks my heart sometimes, though!
** - She is Indian. Technically I'm eligible for a POI card, but haven't gone through the paperwork
