Time of year advice sought

Hi!

I'm in the early stages of planning a trip for Dec 07/Jan 08. Is this a very poor time to go because of the holiday season (i.e., high rates, crowded tourist spots etc).

depends on where you are going... But most likely, flights to India around this time will be FULL. So do book EARLY. If you book early, you shouldn't have a problem at all...

Mid-November or late-February is usually more my cup of tea for more of India.

Rates go up after Nov 15 so if you book in advance you'll get a pretty good deal...

The flights are full because of the Indians from all western world traveling home for the holidays. The tourist spots should not be that bad... the tourist season in india runs from October to March, although the first and last month are hit and miss as the weather may be unpleasantly hot. Plus early November late October is Diwali, when half the country is travelling like the americans do for thanksgiving.

Weather is mild to cool so that is better, but Dec-Jan can also have a lot of problems with fog which cause changes to the flight schedules

A belated thanks for the advice.

I'm hoping to snag SQ Business Class award saver seats, do they even release any over the holidays? (Sorry if this is the wrong forum).
