My husband and I are flying to Mumbai (BOM) in 3 weeks. (Never mind that we have yet to get our VISAs--that's a whole other story!)

We are trying to pick a flight...

We have Delta miles and AA miles....

We can either go:

Nashville-->Atlanta (2 hr layover) -->Paris (CDG) (2 hr 10 min layover) -->BOM on Delta

--or---

Nashville (on American)-->Chicago (ORD-2 hr 45 min layover)-->London (LHR) (1 hr 5 min layover) --> BOM on British Air

I would rather get the miles, but if the trip is going to be significantly more comfy on BA (or easier or better in Heathrow than Paris)...well, that will work too.

Also, are all international flights out of BOM in the middle of the night? It seems going back all flights leave at 0200 or similar.

Any other advice on flying into India?

Yes, most flights out of BOM leave at those wee hours. I believe Jet Airways has an earlier departure but you won't earn DL or AA miles. Flights leave India at that hour to land in Europe in time for flights that depart Europe for the US/Canada.

I think time wise, BNA->ATL-CDG->BOM is a better route compared to
the AA route.

I'm based out of NY so I usually JFK-AMS-BOM (KLM/NWA)


You can earn Delta miles on any Skyteam partners (Continental, KLM, NW)

Just keep in mind, you dont earn AA miles on BA trans-atlantic flights.


chances are you'll get better rates on Delta.
